Nintendo did well in the handheld market; the DS is an example of innovation done correctly, even when some games fuck it up (I'm looking at you Sonic Chronicles: Dark Brotherhood). But even the DS has an option to play without using the touchscreen for most games. When systems force me to use their little gimmick rather than something that actually works most of the time, then it's a bad system. Yes, sadly, the quality of the console is judged by the games that are released on them. But when you butcher a game (such as Resident Evil 4) to work with your wireless phallus, then you need to stop and have your brain check back into your skull. Why so late on the Wii rant, you might ask? Because it has proven to be disappointing. I've given it enough time to redeem itself. Too much hype, not enough delivery.
At least I can use the Gamecube controllers on some games, such as Mario Kart Wii before I turn it off and realize how much better it was before the game was dumbed down and go back to playing Double Dash.

I owned a Wii. Keyword being owned. After I got past the initial this is cool factor, I sold it to a friend because it just didn't have more than a bunch of mini-games to keep me interested. The virtiual console was cool, but I can emulate these games for free on my PC. It was a neat idea, but I want a controller in my hand.

Sadly I have a wii
Sadly I have a wii (hehe), and while I don't hate it, I do hate some their reasoning behind providing us such crappy graphics. Because of the motion controller. The only problem is that every game I've played actually is easier to control if you're not waving your arms around like a mad man. Take, for instance, punch out, I first picked up this game, and thought, this is going to be sweet. Plug in my nunchuck, and start swinging wildly, soon realizing I have no control over the game. I took out the nunchuck and used the wiimote like an old school nintendo controller, and was able to have much more control. Motion controlers are nice in theory, but they just don't react the way they should (not yet anyway). Punch out is a sweet game though, and I love playing it (and with my wii, hehe)... Is it sad that I still laugh every time I reference my wii.
