In the not so distant future you will probably be sitting in front of your computer or TV screen adorned with your fancy schmancy 3-D glasses dodging as your video game tries to attack you through your screen.  With the latest infusion of 3-D to the movie theatre, you can rest assured that the gaming industry isn’t far off.

Coming back from the third movie that I’ve watched in 3-D with a massive migraine, I started to hope that this just a fad and not where the industry is headed.  Maybe I’m getting old or maybe my brain is slowly turning into a pile of shit, but 3-D for 2 ½ hours really hurts my sockets, I couldn't imagine hours of gaming.  And oh how I loathe sitting in a theater having to wear glasses on top of my glasses, watching that 1 guy that apparently has been locked in a radioactive oven for the past 20 years as he tries to grab the 3-D images out of the air…  Maybe the next time I get new glasses, I'll look into those new fandangled 3-D transition lenses, so I can see everything in 3-D.

I see this fad gaining more and more speed within the movie industry and am just hoping that it does not jump the bridge into the realm of gaming.  With tons of movie giants dumping millions into their 3-D technologies, I fear that they won’t let this ‘fad’ die out without a long and drawn out fight and hope that soon everything doesn’t go completely 3-D.   Seeing signs that this jump is already in progress, I am getting worried;  Nvidia is dumping tons of cash right now into 3-D development (http://www.nvidia.com/object/3D_Vision_Main.html).

3-D is a nice concept and ‘fun’ the first time you experience it, I just hope that everything doesn’t go 3-D on my ass.   If you want a real 3-D experience, go outside.

Except none of this is new...
As, at the very least, indie game developer Pangea Software has produced at least one title that takes advantage of 3D glasses.

...
unlike a 2d movie , 3D movies require you to focus on the entire screen at once, foreground and background and everything in between. THis causes eye strain and headaches. I really hope 3D isn't the way of the future becuase I won't be buying it.
